Lessons from Last Year

Last year was filled with unnerving headlines: inflation, rising interest rates, collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, geopolitical unrest in Ukraine and the Middle East, threat of government shutdowns. The list could go on and on. It makes sense why many people were uneasy about their investments. We all too often forget how well markets work, and how we make it out ahead by simply staying the course.

David Booth, Founder and Chairman at Dimensional, put out a great article that really puts how markets work into perspective. I highly recommend it, and it's a quick read!

My favorite quote in this article:

"I believe that the key to successful investing is to cultivate a long-term perspective, where you think in decades, not days."

So as we jump into 2024 let us all remember that we can not predict what will happen in the future, but we can have confidence that with a solid financial plan you are in a good place to withstand the uncertainty.
